Ice Stars for Wounded Warriors Inc. - A non-profit event
On Friday, April 27th, 2012 and Saturday, April 28th, the Wounded Warriors Project hosted an "Ice Stars for Wounded Warriors" event in Amherst, Massachusetts. With your help, the Ice Stars for Wounded Warriors event was able to raise $12,000 to donate to the Wounded Warriors Project. Thank you to all of those that attended the event, volunteered their time, and made monetary contributions!! The event began with a charity hockey tournament at the Mullins Center practice rink. . The Shields of Hope team defeated the Massachusetts State Police team by a score of 7-1 in the championship game. For more information, please visit the Hockey game information! page.
On Saturday, a procession commenced at 3:00 PM down Commonwealth Ave with the UMass Marching Band leading members of the United States Marine Corps, Amherst Fire Deptartment, Springfield Fire Dept, UMass Police Dept, Massachusetts State Police, University of Massachusetts Amherst ROTC - Air Force, University of Massachusetts Amherst ROTC - Army, participating ice skaters, participating local hockey teams, and local guest athletes.
The world class Ice Show began at 7:00 PM on Saturday night and, once again, it did not disappoint. Local, Olympic International and World figure skaters showcased their amazing talents.
